Torre del Infantado

The Torre del Infantado, the bastion of the town of Potes and the whole region of Liébana is a medieval building with the category “Bien de Interés Cultural” (Property of Cultural Interest). Crossing the entrance with pointed arch, we find six floors whose rooms are opened out onto a central courtyard. First, it was a jail and later, the Town Hall, today it houses the permanent exhibition “El cosmos del Beato de Liébana. Aquí comienza todo” about the life and work of Abbot Lebaniego, the first Cantabrian and Spaniard Writer. The visit culminated with the incredible view from the crenellated of Potes, the Picos de Europa, Deva river and Quiviesa river and monastery of Santo Toribio. Also, the tower houses temporary exhibitions in their basement.
