The gastronomy of Liébana Valley is famous for its cheese with two denominations of origin “quesucos de Liébana” y “Picón” and its “orujos” traditionally made in the region for centuries. But also, sausages, “boronos” and meat, both beef as suckling kids and lambs reared by farmers in the valley which then is offered in the restaurants in the area. Also is typical the famous “cocido lebaniego” made with chickpeas, chorizo, relleno… you can´t leave without trying this unique dish.

In the valley of Liébana, there are several restaurants that offer a good quality-price relation. Some well-known are “Casa Cayo” in the Cántabra neighborhood, “El Oso”, in the town Cosgaya, “La Venta Pepín” or “Casa la Madrid” in Cahecho. The latter is highly recommended for the town´s view and the good cocido lebaniego that they cook.

In addition, there are many shops of typical products in Potes where you can buy orujos and cheeses. In Camaleño we find the cheese shop “Río Deva”, very famous because of its “quesucos de Liébana” and in Lon, the cheese shop “Peña Lon”, with high quality curated cheese. Both are located about 5-10 minutes from Potes.
