he Cueto Agero is one of the most important climbing areas of Northern Spain. It is an extension of the Eastern Massif of Picos de Europa to the Valley of Liébana. Due to known micro climate of this region, it is an ideal place to climb in autumn, winter and spring, where due to the cold weather, climbing higher altitudes is less pleasant. The views over the Liébana valley  and Peña Prieta area are breathtaking.

One of the most popular routes is the “Espolón de Asturcones”, with 200 feet of wall (maximum graduation V) is a sharp spur that travels the called  Castro Candilejas through its south side. It has a difficult route at the base but, if you know the alternative, it is not required to climb there. So that, this is a highly recommended climb for people starting to practise this sport or for those who wish to spend a day climbing quietly in a nice place.
